The PhD in Communication Sciences aims to guarantee the qualification of cultural, business and professional agents in the field of communication, providing advanced training of high quality that enables them to intervene, as researchers and communicators, in the public sphere, whatever their insertion. professional: schools, companies or public administration.
 
More specifically, the course is aimed at the advanced training of agents in the following areas: teaching and research in higher education institutions (Universities and Polytechnic Institutes); acting in companies in the media area (Newspapers, Radio Televisions, Internet), namely at the level of their study offices; acting in companies in the areas of Advertising and Public Relations; specialized technical consultancy in the area of ​​communication for companies and institutions in the most diverse areas of social life.

Media Arts

The 3rd cycle in Media Arts appears as a corollary of the formations in the artistic spectrum offered by UBI, addressing masters in Design, Cinema, Visual Arts, Plastic Arts and Architecture, but also those who present relevant curricula in the studies of Culture and of the Humanities.
 
The program considers the epistemological specificity of the arts, their methodologies and objects, framing the development of arts-based research, capable of deepening the dialogue with the conceptual, technological and media domains of academia, industry and society contemporary.
 
It recognizes research in, on and through art as fundamental for the generation, mediation, reflection and critique of knowledge and culture and, in the current context of crisis in disciplinary taxonomies, it proposes an approach to the issues of intermediality and hybridization of the field from the development of theses or original project proposals.
