“Journalism in Regional Media in the 21st Century: Practices, Deontology and Training” is the theme of the I National Meeting of Journalists from Regional Media (#ENJMR21, which will take place from September 30th to October 2nd, 2021, at the University of Beira Interior (UBI) An initiative of Re/media.Lab – Regional Media Laboratory and Incubator.
“It is a meeting that is intended to be comprehensive and an opportunity for, among journalists, to debate the challenges facing the profession and also the business models that are associated with the sector”, says Nuno Francisco, president of the organizing committee.
“It will be a great meeting of journalists from the regional media and will serve as a corollary of Re/media.Lab”, adds João Carlos Correia, the investigator in charge of that project. Proximity journalism “is arousing increasing interest and that is why it is a meeting that, in addition to journalists, will count on the presence of academics and those responsible for defining public policies, as well as representatives of the sector”, he adds.
The #ENJMR21 will privilege in-person participation, even if limited, considering the indications of the health authorities and due to the pandemic. Simultaneously, there will be online transmission. This is an initiative of Re/media.Lab – Laboratory and Incubator of Regional Media, project based at LabCom – Comunicação e Artes, research unit of the Faculty of Arts and Letters at UBI. Started in May 2018, it runs until January 2022 and is co-financed by Centro 2020, Portugal 2020, European Union (FEDER) and the Foundation for Science and Technology.
