The organization of the fourth edition of "Cinema and other Arts" invites the entire scientific community to submit original proposals on the arts and cinema, until november 15th, 2021..
Throughout the history of cinema, we have witnessed a complex debate on the reciprocal relationship between cinema and other arts that is characterized, above all, by a set of creative efforts and experimental gestures from both domains, permeated by dialogisms that transit between the expression of other arts in cinema and the transmutation of cinema into other arts. From the defense of the aesthetic value of the moving image to the more hybrid forms built under new references, cinema is in a constant relationship of reciprocity with the other arts, whether through a relationship of tension, of the presence of one in the other, or in in the last instance, the blurring of borders. This investigative field finds in the operative possibilities of intertextuality and in the dialogical regime of artistic construction, methodological processes capable of structuring the scientific discourse.
The International Meeting "Cinema and other Arts" will have its fourth edition on December 13, 14 and 15, 2021, at the University of Beira Interior. Its main objective is to promote discussion/reflection on current issues regarding the dialogue between different forms of art, having cinema as a point of contact. Seeking to join efforts to rehearse interdisciplinary and intercultural reading hypotheses, researchers from different scientific areas are invited to participate in this meeting, with special emphasis on Film Studies, Artistic Studies and Cultural Studies, which, in different disciplinary domains and phases of research, address these issues.
